The WE Summit 2023 saw history in the making! Three partnership agreements signed at Poutasi Village during the second day of the Trade Summit, including WE Mana signing a partnership agreement with Poutasi Development Trust.
The three partnerships being:
1. Hastings District Council with Falealili District
2. Ngāti Kahungunu with Poutasi Village
3. WE Mana with Poutasi Development Trust
These conversations have been in development for a while now and we're so happy that we've signed a commitment to working together for the betterment of our communities.
WE Mana will play a key role, on the ground, as part of the partnership agreements between all parties. WE will be starting WE Academy in Poutasi Village, helping the youth and Mums that are left behind by RSE workers, educating on financial literacy and teaching about business. The hope is that returned RSE workers will be able to build sustainable businesses when they return.
What's even better is the coming together of our cultures, Samoan and Māori. Something close to the hearts of our Founders, Eli and Wyndi Tagi, being of Samoan and Māori heritage themselves.
We must give thanks to Tuatagaloa Joe Annandale for his vision and leadership and NZ Samoa Trade & Investment Commission (NZSTIC) for their support in bringing this together.
WE Mana are looking forward to working closer with the farmers and growers in Hastings and the Hastings District Council - Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Heretaunga and Ngāti Kahungunu to create a sustainable model that benefits both NZ and Samoa. This also includes options to set up outsourcing at PDT with ties back to Hastings.
