Pacific Business Village
The Pacific Business Village initiative was established to support sustained growth in the Pacific business sector. It provides a strategic framework for long-term economic development for Pacific business in the regions outside of Auckland.
The Ministry works with Pacific business communities to provide greater accessibility to business support services. It also supports Pacific business communities into operating sustainably, alongside recovery from the impacts of COVID-19
WE are one of the Pacific Business Providers that work with Pacific businesses to build capability and expertise. Our programmes we can provide under the Pacific Business Village are:

Pacific Business Trust
WE are a Preferred Service Provider for the Pacific Business Trust. Pacific Business Trust partners and collaborates with trusted external organisations, like us, to deliver services and offerings to Pacific business customers on their behalf.
To access funding for our services from PBT you will need to Register to become a member of the PBT Community. Contact WE to discuss your needs and we can offer you a quote to take to PBT for assessment and eligibility.
Regional Business Partners Network
Regional Business Partner Network connects you to the right advice, people and resources. Funded by the New Zealand government, the RBP Network consists of a number of regional growth agencies throughout the country.
Since WE are a Registered Service Provider WE can work directly with business owners across Aotearoa. Registering is a simple process through their website - but make sure you have your NZ Business Number on hand.
Poutama
Poutama is an independent charitable trust established in 1988. It provides business development services to Māori. Poutama is reasonably flexible on the types of activities they can support. The main thing for you to be aware of is how a grant will positively impact and help grow your business.
There are criteria for this fund:
- Key Criteria - Available on a 50-50 basis up to a maximum of $10,000.
- Lifetime - A business can apply up to three times or receive a maximum of $30,000 over their business lifetime.
- Māori ownership - At least 50 percent.
- Operations - Your business has been operating for more than 12 months.
- Documentation - A business plan and financial statements.
- Annual turn-over - At least $80,000.
